What kind of treatment are we talking about?
The treatment is based on auriculotherapy. This therapeutic method, derived from acupuncture, consists of the stimulation of certain points on the external portion of the ear. Every reflex point is related to an organ or gland of the body. This treatment uses the same principles as acupuncture but uses a soft electro-stimulation rather than needles.

Why focus on the ear?
All parts of the body are connected to the external ear at very precise points. All corresponding points form a map of the human body. The therapeutic method developed by Dr. Paul F.M. Nogier, a foremost expert on electro-auriculotherapy, consists of exciting certain points in the ear by mechanical or electromagnetic-stimulation.

What exactly is electro-stimulation?
Electro-stimulation involves the application of a soft current which stimulates the nerve plexus in precise points by micro-vibrations that excite the nerve endings. In using the R.I.S.E. system, no points are missed through human error as may occur with acupuncture needles. The concentrated light vibrates at an almost identical frequency to that of human cells and creates a tuning fork effect which excites the targeted nerve endings.

Will this treatment really help me quit smoking?

Is it 100% effective?
Not totally, but no system is! It is true that the treatment delivers the physical relief from craving but you will still have to work in order to control your old habits. You really have to want to quit smoking but the results are far superior to all other methods.

What if I continue to smoke after treatment?
After the initial treatment, IQS offers follow-up support. Furthermore, up to three additional treatments are available at no extra cost. Less than 10% of our clients require a second treatment.

How does IQS compare to other treatments available?
There are several pharmaceutical products available to treat withdrawal symptoms, such as nicotine patches, chewing gum and mouthpieces containing nicotine. These products replace nicotine, thus avoiding the absorption of other toxic substances found in cigarettes. The amount of nicotine is gradually reduced causing withdrawal symptoms to fade. The low success rates of these products are due to the fact that smokers are not only physically but also psychologically dependent on cigarettes. Using these products, a smoker finds themselves on their own and likely to light up again.
Alternative therapeutic treatments such as laser, acupuncture, hypnosis and even self-training are also available.
